Came to South Carolina where he applied for a land grant in 1737. The land was on Catfish Marsh where the first Welsh Baptists settled in 1737.
This Thomas Polk was the son of Robert Bruce Polk Jr. & wife Grace of Somerset Co & Dorchester Co., Maryland.
His father left him some land called "Venture" in his will, subject to his mother's death.
Thomas Polk & wife "Vier" sold this land in 1734 to Charles Hopkins. This was the year the Welsh Baptists first went to SC to look the place over.
