James Roberts Coward Born Ca 1745 Johnston Co, NC; Died About 1830 Emanuel Co., Georgia. Said to be buried at Hebron Cemetery, Garfield, Ga.

James was the son of Edward Coward & Dorcas Roberts.

1. William Milburn Coward, Sr. was born about 1764, according to census records, in North Carolina (Prob. Dobbs Co.) and died in 1834 in Barnwell Co, South Carolina ( Will Pro. July 7, 1834, Book C, P 121)

Edward Coward was born Ca 1719 in Bertie Co, North Carolina and died Pr to 1790 in Dobbs Co, North Carolina.  He was the son of John Coward & Elizabeth Griffen.

Edward Coward married Dorcas Roberts, daughter of James Roberts & Cordelia Edwards.

John Coward was born Ca 1690 in Chowan Precinct, North Carolina and died in Bertie Co, North Carolina in 1737 (Will)  He was he son of William Coward of Chowan Pct. & Bertie Co, NC. 

His wife was named Elizabeth   She died after 1750, as Elizabeth Coward and Joseph Wimberly witnessed a deed of Francis Roundtree to Isaac Hill; recorded Aug, 1751.

William Coward was born Ca 1665 in England, and died in Bertie Co, North Carolina pr to Feb. 29, 1729.  He resided in Chowan Precinct, NC, as early as 1717. Bertie Co. was cut off from Chowan in 1722.  I have no record on his wife.
